Goodwood Festival of Speed

We took a trip to Goodwood Festival of Speed this year!  There seemed to be a lot more there than when we went a few years ago, so we were impressed.  I have to say though, I was all about the cool food trucks!  Anyway, here are a few pics...

If you like cars, how about a Lamborghini coffee/tea table?!

Great fun being had at the Peugeot stand!  Good on the members of the public who had a go!

Bit of a hard-core 4x4 off-road and camping section, oh yeah!!

Off to the beach

And the best bit, food trucks!!

Don't know how good the food was in each of these vans as I went in search of the Waffle truck!  It didn't quite live up to my fantasies though as they just took it out of a packet and put it in the oven!  Hooray for the street foodies that put quality into their food these days, can't get enough of those.

It's quite old-school British at Goodwood so i'd urge those vintage tea companies to set up there and provide some proper tea and cake!

Nice drive back through Midhurst with its tearooms and antique shops.

Great day!

Secret Escapes - Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa

Last summer I posted about my trip to the amazing Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa for Afternoon Tea! I chose this venue for a special birthday because they had won a Tea Guild Award and because they offered a Gluten-Free choice!

Therefore, I was delighted to see an overnight break at Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa on the Secret Escapes list of current offers as I recently joined up to their affiliate scheme!  This means that if you click through my site and decide to use the offer, I get a small commission at no extra cost to you! It's great that I have the opportunity to direct you all to a hotel I really enjoyed going to for tea.

The five-star Hotel and Spa is in Bagshot, surrounded by beautiful Surrey countryside and the offer is on now until 28/07/13 from £199 per room per night with breakfast and dinner included by top Chefs.  There's a lot included for that with use of the grounds and Spa, so have a read through and see what you think!  I was really impressed when I last booked through Secret Escapes and it's very easy with no hidden costs or small print.

If you do visit this luxury hotel, then definitely check out the brasserie or patio for Afternoon Tea as I did - you won't be disappointed!  In case it's busy though, maybe call to book as it's not part of the offer.  Tradition Ascot Afternoon Tea is £29.50.

Have a great time and don't forget to post some of your pics on Tea Street's Facebook!

Talisman Flowering Teas

These Flowering Teas bulbs are holding onto a secret.  They consist of an intertwined blend of fresh green or white tea with fragrant flowers that will unfold like a tea ballet that dances to the sound of near boiled water.  The end result is a surprise that emerges like a butterfly into a beautiful plant in your very own teapot.

by Tea Street blog

These botanical delights with names like 'sunset' and 'Blissful Love' are from a selection by Talisman Teas.  A glass teapot or tall glass is a must for these teas, because as lovely as they taste, the selling point is in the display.  I'd even go so far as to say that these are the best way to give tea as a gift or for a special occasion because they're so pretty and so unusual.

This is me testing out 'Sunset'.  I was worried about trying to photograph through a glass teapot, but it wasn't too bad!  I also enjoyed creating the picture above as they remind me of strange exotic plants i've discovered!

These pictures don't do it justice, but it was great fun watching it infuse.  It brewed into a sunset colour as the name suggests and it was a light tea with hints of caramel and apricot.  I'll look forward to giving the other flowering teas a go!

See the Talisman Tea website for a selection of five flowering teas for a small cost of £5.00.  Also check out their glass tea ware here

Great Outdoors to Great Hotels!

The summer is finally here so we grabbed the tent this time and went camping on the Pembrokshire coast!  Not a bad view from the tent...

We took a Voyages of Discovery boat trip to Ramsey Island, which was great fun! It's owned by the RSPB and they seemed to be doing a great job encouraging puffins to land there.

I had been drinking a lot of peppermint tea, but couldn't resist cycling along the coast and along to the pub in this great weather!

A trip to St. David's for tea and Scones, lovely City.

We had a great time camping, but there comes a time when you want a bit more luxury!  Enter Secret Escapes... You know, the advert with that lady whispering like she's broken into a hotel??  Well we found the amazing Corran Resort and Spa in South Wales featured on their website, which just so happened to be on the way back!  We booked it over my iPhone using PayPal and we were so impressed with how easy it was.  Onward to the hotel...

The swimming pool and jacuzzi (magic word after camping) was the door on the right of this quad

Our room (using the word 'room' lightly).  When we were shown in I thought we were in a hallway as I couldn't believe there was so much room all to us!

Ey up, what's this I spot on the Piano..??

...only a Twinings box!  These were dotted in the restaurant as well, they look so posh, I wish I had one!  Diving into the Afternoon blend, it was just what I needed after camping

It was a fairly small resort with only twenty-one 'rooms', so it felt very homely and intimate and the staff and other guests were very chatty.  We didn't use any Spa treatments and were wondering if they'd be pushed on us as soon as we walked in the door, but there wasn't much mention of it!  We felt free to wander to the pool once we got our dressing-gown on...

Dotted around were lots of vintage travel items that were such a special touch.  Here on the windowsill of our sitting area were these cute binoculars.

Reception (old school blogging!)

We had an evening meal in the restaurant, where they source food as locally as possible and it was delicious!!  I started to struggle by dessert so had time to take a snap.  Breakfast was included with our room so we were back for another amazing meal in the morning.

The Resort is at Laugharne, Carmerthenshire with lovely countryside around the resort.

This was another brilliant time in Wales with a mixture of the great outdoors and hotel luxury, complete with Twinings!  We also couldn't believe how easy it was to making a booking with Secret Escapes and we look forward to using them again when we're in need of a treat!

Let the Heat Wave begin!

There's only one answer to a British heat wave - Iced Tea of course!  I've been holding onto my Hampstead Organic Elderflower Oolong Iced Tea since my last Iced Tea post and was excited to try it today!

Got an Iced Tea and Kindle picnic going on

I love Elderflower so this was a real treat today and was a nice alternative to the usual Cokes and lemonades!  It's got a 'Great Taste Gold Award 2012', and is free from artificial flavourings, yet packed with antioxidants!

It's low calorie and almost seems like a tea and elderflower flavoured water as it's very light.  If you're expecting a strong tea version of the Frappacino then you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Anyway, too much sun out this weekend to sit on the computer, so if you want to try it for yourself, grab a Fairtrade Elderflower Iced Tea and go relax in the great outdoors!  They're £1.49 for an environmentally-friendly 330ml carton, which is fully recyclable!

Enjoy! x
